What is Mae's Cafe?

Mae’s Cafe is a handmade, personal homepage inspired by the old‑web era of Geocities, webrings, shrines, and DIY site builders. Before social media took over, the web was a patchwork of personal spaces made by regular people, each one unique and alive. This site is mine.

Here you’ll find a mix of things: diary entries, personal archives, old‑web aesthetics, GIF collections, art, thoughts, and whatever else I feel like sharing. It’s DIY, built slowly and intentionally — more like decorating a room than posting on a platform.

Who is Mae?

I grew up in the 90s and early Y2K, spending countless hours exploring the early internet. Geocities site builders felt like magic to me — the moment I saw my first page come to life, linking to all my favorite places, something clicked. It was made by me and for me, and the process felt calming and creative.

Now I’m a homemaker, a parent, a spouse, and a lifelong creator. I spent time doing freelance web development, which taught me a lot about modern design — but deep down, I missed the spark of those early days. I wanted the fun back. The weirdness. The authenticity.

So I made Mae’s Cafe — my homepage, my digital garden. You’re welcome to wander, explore, and make yourself at home.
